Glenn Max was born in NYC. In 1997, he was asked to serve as creative director of the multi-tiered performing arts venue, The Knitting Factory.
In 2000, he was appointed Producer of the Contemporary Culture at the South Bank Centre overseeing the highly-anticipated flagship festival, Meltdown. He conceived and organised new festivals such as Ether, and Mind Your Head, doubling the size of the contemporary culture programme. Achievement include Brain Wilson’s comeback concerts and his follow-up ‘Smile’ concerts, The New York Dolls reunion.
Ether, a festival designed to address the vast gap in electronic culture and concert hall culture had huge impact across art centres in the UK and abroad by presenting electronic music alongside contemporary classical.
In 2010, Glenn Max began work on a new summer festival, Wilderness which was voted best New Festival at the UK Festival awards. He was also appointed Creative Director of the Village Underground.
