School for Creative Startups, a London based organisation supporting creative entrepreneurs, is opening a new programme in Folkestone, cementing the town’s reputation as a thriving hub for the creative industries in East Kent.
Led by former Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Doug Richard, the programme is being supported by Kent County Council, which is fully funding 100 places on the course for Kent residents, local business owners and those intending to start a business in Kent.
The Kent School for Creative Startups programme, the first taking place outside of London, is a further boost to East Kent’s credentials as a home for creative businesses.
The Creative Foundation, an independent arts charity based in Folkestone, will host School for Creative Startups in Kent throughout the programme.
Doug Richard, who founded School for Creative Startups in 2010, said:
“By backing its creative talent, Kent County Council is unlocking the county’s potential to be at the heart of British innovation and entrepreneurship, and we encourage Kent residents to apply.
“It’s great to see local government putting its money where its mouth is and pledging support for the start-ups that are leading the UK’s economic recovery.
“The UK is the Silicon Valley for the creative industries and nowhere else in the world do we have the same concentration of creative talent, but we must nurture it and help it to become a viable and self-sustainable sector.”
