Lili & Ida is a design-led contemporary jewellery and adornment brand combining new technologies with traditional techniques. Our pieces incorporate precious metals, modern materials and digital techniques, achieving a distinctive, luxurious aesthetic: We are passionate about craft in everything we do whether in the white heat of the laser machine or with delicate hand-finishing processes. Each of our pieces has been lovingly and laboriously created to appeal to a discerning customer who values high quality design with both sophistication and flair. Lili and Ida is the result of an encounter between founder Lili and her great-grandmother, Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, the Edwardian children’s illustrator, whose distinctly individual drawings in pen, ink, and watercolour captured public imagination in her time as she exhibited across London, Paris, and Australia. We look to bring to life her illustrations in a new light in 3-D. Lili finds inspiration in combinations of odd and mundane materials to create contemporary shapes that can be combined and interchanged with what would normally be traditional pieces of clothing, but which are transformed by a this new twist. The inspiration for her first collection was found in a hardware store in the form of hinges. She is fascinated by the idea of extending jewellery into garments and exploring the possibilities this offers. The elements of our collection are designed to be worn as statement pieces, but in their combination of precious and non-precious materials they are able to transition easily from day to eveningwear. Pieces include necklaces, pendants and earrings but we are also increasingly known for our jewellery-clothing, bespoke pieces that include elements of hand-crafted jewellery with fine fabrics, jersey, chiffon and silk – from statement piece to statement outfit.
