Rocket and Squash: food and art

Our business idea

Quality. Style. Spaces that are visually appealing and foster an interesting and interested atmosphere. Attention to detail. Food that you want to eat served at prices that you want to pay.

We are two brothers: one a reformed lawyer turned food blogger and chef; the other a freelance graphic designer and artist. We think that there is a clear link between food and art that hasn’t been fully explored or exploited. Our intention is to collaborate in order to create a business that combines our interests and our skills.

The long term plan is to own a cafe/restaurant that is also the site of an arts and food industry publishing house (both print and online) and book retailer. The business will have its own quarterly journal as well as a linked exhibition and events space.

Many people value unique and creative places to spend their income and time, rather than spend it in generic chains and franchises. We want our business to serve as a space for lively conversation, debate and engagement, as well as somewhere that serves the food and drink that we and others enjoy.

We have a number of ideas as to how to start to develop such a business and hope that this course will help us to focus and make the first steps.
