Paul Sturrock

Paul Sturrock has over 25 years experience managing, investing in, and advising high technology growth companies and startups.
Paul started his career in Silicon Valley with Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, a start-up which pioneered angioplasty and was acquired by Eli Lilly. He was promoted to senior posts including CFO for a Corporate Venture unit, and Managing Director for Germany and Spain. He left to become European Director for Gynecare, setting up their operations in Europe prior to a successful sale to J&J. Paul then joined Gorilla Park, a pan-European technology incubator and launched their venture investment and acceleration operations in Sweden as Managing Director. Paul has a BA from Reed College, an MBA from the University of Washington, and an MA in Innovation Management with Distinction from Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. He is fluent in five languages.
Paul founded Slingshot Venture Development in 2001 to help companies develop their entrepreneurial capacity. His clients have included NESTA Investments, Imperial Innovations, Boots, MIT Media Lab, the SETsquared Partnership and 3C Research.
Paul has developed and delivered entrepreneurship education programmes for City University, Central Saint Martins, Scottish Institute for Enterprise, Hong Kong University, and Wayra. His approach is informed by his belief that business design is neither art nor science, it’s a craft.
